Loading only macros from a preset with more drums the currently loaded one could cause a crash. (Such presets exist in Custom & Vintage, Allaire and Hit Factory.) Loading an SDX factory preset that uses sounds from another SDX no longer shows an error dialog if that other SDX is not available. It no longer crashes if you select “Save As” in the Drums & Mixer preset menu and click Cancel. “None” can now be selected in the output channel list to make the output silent. On Windows, two new device types are available: “WASAPI (Exclusive Mode)” and “WASAPI (Low Latency Mode)”. Added settings in the E-drum page to control how ringing hi-hat sounds respond to pedal movement. The mixer no longer has a maximum number of effects. The EQ curve is graphically smoother now. The EQ now supports other Slope values than 6 dB/oct in Peak mode. All User MIDI operations (rename/add/remove) are now threaded operations instead of locking the GUI and will show a progress dialog. In the Groove Parts view, Hi-Hat Pedal is now included in Hi-Hat instead of being separate. Added “Show in Finder/Explorer” option on instruments that use imported audio files. In the CC editor, lines are no longer drawn outside of song blocks. While drag-inserting notes with the Pencil Tool, you can now erase/undo notes before releasing the mouse button. An error dialog will now be shown if dragging out from SD3 fails because a temporary file could not be written. New standalone and document icons on Mac, in Big Sur style. 
The About dialog says “64-bit ARM” (instead of “64-bit Intel”) when running in native Apple silicon mode.
